Preface

My name is A.F. D’Avilar and I am a Writer, born and raised in Toronto, Canada, by way of South American parents. I've successfully acquired a University Education along with a Music Industry Business Education. Nonetheless, I was raised on and have a love for words.

Whether that be the words found in published works of past writers such as William Shakespeare, Kahlil Gibran and Thomas Hardy. To more contemporary authors like John Steinbeck, Mary Oliver, Khalid Hosseini, Jodi   Picoult and Austin Clarke. Or the words found in the poetry of Rap music. With its use of metaphor, similes or entendre, the craftsmanship of the words and sentences found throughout the culture of Hip Hop is unprecedented.

As an author with a genuine passion for writing, and a unique perspective to offer readers; my work confronts timeless themes of love, pain, happiness, lust and creation. In late 2015, I went about the task of self-publishing my first book, Open Book. Open Book is an accumulation of some of my poetry, short writings and prose from over the past decade. Seasoned by personal experiences, the entries are written from a perspective of honesty without judgement, as they were not initially meant to be consumed by others. The second book, Open Book Too, released in Summer 2017, carried on in the same light as its predecessor.  My third novel now available, The End, is a narrative nonfiction where the reader takes on the role of the protagonist, dictating what happens throughout the story.
